Soccer NSW alerts all members of the recent warnings distributed by the Meningococcal Association of Australia in relation to shared drink bottles. Test results show that the sharing of drink bottles occurs more frequently in sport and therefore places sports persons at a high risk in relation to meningococcal. Soccer NSW fully endorses the recommendation that drink bottles should not be shared and that all sportspersons should be made aware of the threat of contamination. All clubs, associations and branches are instructed to notify all members of the dangers of sharing drink bottles and take necessary steps to increase awareness and reduce the risks of the dangers of the potentially life threatening meningococcal bacteria.
