TEAM 7 Yellow FILED BY Martin Vine SCORE 0-1 Loss

Our first REAL GAME, on a REAL FIELD, with REAL GOAL POSTS, and we played like REAL FOOTBALLERS! (soccer players!). Ethan did some great tackles; Caleb booted everything that came near him; Ben was unstoppable in the middle, and Danial was everywhere. Mathew never stopped running for the ball; Nicholas and Lachlan R both nearly scored goals, and Lachlan M was very strong with his kicking. But the Man of the Match was Oscar, who was brilliant in goals, diving everywhere, including fearlessly at the feet of the East Gosford players, to make some superb saves! Great job Oscar! Well done boys!  Martin

TEAM 11E FILED BY Wayne Penton SCORE 1-0 Win
What a fantastic start to another great season.  The team played like champions and really showed they will be force to reckon with this year . Right from the start they were on fire and took Woy Woy out of the game. First Half Keeper Jayden saw the ball twice , as the defence were merciless against the rare attack. (Taylor ,Breaden , Dean and Blake). The halfs dominated the pitch .James Miller, James McKinney, Samantha and Jonathon were onto every ball with some great passes that  gave  the forwards some  real opportunities. Ross, Mel as strikers  were unlucky not to have us leading by 3 at half time with many chances sizzling past the post.  The second half was no different and with some positional changes Blake Penton (Goalie),Taylor and Jayden up front , Mel into midfield the teams confidence grew and Woy Woy had no chance. Blake touched the ball twice as keeper and he was laying on the ground several times sleeping. The defence played like halfs and the halfs and forwards were camped on the edge of the Woy Woy 20 Yard box. Blake Price scored our goal with an absolute pearler from the edge of the box. The ball swirled and dipped into the net. GREAT SHOT BLAKE. What a way to score your first goal.  This weeks award went to Jayden . A perfect first half and never stopped trying in the second.  Keep up the great work Team , You were sensational.

TEAM 14A FILED BY ? SCORE 2-1 WIN

What a fantastic way to start the season with a well earnt 2-1 win over Berkley Vale.  I think everyone watching today was amazed at the level of skill and control shown by the boys and the results of the pre-season fitness training was certainly evident.  From the moment the ref’s whistle started the game, Umina had most of the possession and Berkley rarely looked dangerous. A free kick and a long range shot from Jarrod Fox saw Umina score first points and we went to the half time break in control of the match. Ten minutes into the second half Berkley got a lucky penalty kick and unfortunately leveled the score with the ball just sneaking under goalie Kyle Silver’s arm. Another brilliant goal by Jarrod Fox saw us home 2-1 with 5 minutes to spare. A well deserved win to Umina 14A’s as they were the better team today.  Man of the match was Jarrod Fox, but congratulations to all the boys for their great win.

TEAM W16C FILED BY Peter Smith SCORE 8-0 Win
Well what a great start to the season. To me even better than the score was how all the players encouraged and supported each other and had a lot of fun. Amy scored a hat-trick in the first half with brilliant goals and is a real champion destined for great things. It was also nice to see her trying to help her team-mates score a goal and offloading to them when she was in a potential scoring opportunity – well done Amy – being a team player like that just adds to your great potential. One of the real joys in soccer is seeing a player score their first ever goal and we had TWO – Kate and Jade. Kate ended up with 2 goals but the first was a screamer from outside the penalty area (with her left foot). Jade scored a goal in her first ever game of competition soccer – not many players can lay claim to that. Debbie nearly got her first ever goal with an outstanding shot from way out but was denied by the “save of the day” from the Killarney keeper. Our captain Sally was beginning  to think she was jinxed in not being able to score a goal going so close on so many occasions in our trial games and in the early stages of this game. However in the final stages of the match the jinx was broken with two good goals. We had two new players who played their first ever game of soccer – Sarah and Megan. They had fantastic games and look like developing into really good soccer players. Sarita emerged from her sick bed to provide a solid foundation at the back and deny Killarney any opportunity. Ultimately all players played well and deserve a mention - well done! Player of the Match (3 pts) – Amy, 2 pts Emily, 1 pt Sally. Manager Awards – Debbie and Kate. Goalscorers – Amy 3, Sally 2, Kate 2, Jade 1.

TEAM 16C FILED BY Greg Swampy Marsh SCORE 3-1 Win

One would think as fixtures officer I could organise my own team for a home game at the start of the season but alas, off to Berkeley Vale we trudged.  At least it was sunny...........and windy!  After last weekends flogging in our trial game against Umina 14A's.   I was not sure what to expect on the field from the troops.  Being down 1 nil in the first 20 minutes did not help much either.  But then we fired up.  Matt Todd put a screaming penalty shot straight through the top of the net to put us at 1 all and nearly tore the nets out of the ground.  This is better.  After that the whole team came to life with raid after raid on Berkeleys goals.  Kareem played brilliantly with speed and skills but after 7 shots on goal he managed to hit the goal posts 7 times, at least he set up most of our goals, great job.  In the second half, it took Ty 6 minutes to take us up to 2-1 with a brilliant play and finish, not bad for an injured player.  24 minutes in and Luke playing the forwards sinks our third to finish us with a 3-1 win.  It was not a walkover as Berkeley did mount quite a few good raids and if not for the brilliant goal keeping of Adam the score would have been a lot different.  Kristy had a great game, her ball control and overall skills are great, she left quite a few of the opposition players in the dust.  Julian's game was the same as the last 3 trial games, gold.  Keep it up Jules, brilliant.  Rebecca and Bianca both played great in outside fullbacks stopping most of the wing raids.  Nikky played his usual game of speed and agility roaming between mids and backs to clean up the middle of the park.  This leaves us with Robert who was everywhere always.  Great game and keep it up, you will eventually get the right bounce for you to slam in the goals.  Ken was let loose on the park (about a week early) and played a sensible controlled game, just what I wanted to see.  Jarrod didn’t make the game, (still sunning himself on the Gold Coast) and TJ was not well and could not make the game, next week boys!  3-2-1 went to Kareem, Adam and Julian, but everyone deserved points on this game.  Great effort from all troops, swampy.
