Best performance EVER! No traing for the previous 5 weeks, and still the boys were brilliant! There wasn't one occasion when two of our players got in each other's way, or missed a crucial tackle, or miss kicked, or anything! The contesting for the ball was strong EVERY TIME! The clearing kicks were thoughtful and controlled, the shots at goal were strong, and the throwing in was usable EVERY TIME! Oscar, Lachlan M, and Ethan defended brilliantly; Danial used fantastic judgement in goals, knowing when to come out to the Woy Woy attackers, and kicked every ball way past half way. Caleb and Ben worked hard in attack, and were unlucky not to have 3 or 4 goals each.( if Ben only had a right foot, and Caleb had a left foot!) Lachlan R showed us all how much extra value he is when he stays on his feet, and Nicholas had the game of his life, at one stage weaving through the whole Woy Woy team, with a superb jinking run, only to have his shot saved by some desparate Woy Woy defence. He then managed to get back in time to thwart the Woy Woy counter attack at the other end. Way to go, Umina! |

Great to be back on the park after so much wet weather and what a glorious day it was too. The final score did not reflect how close this game was with both sides displaying great skills in attack and defence. Lachlan our midfielder and Luke centre back set the platform for this win with their workload which saw them all over the field in the thick of the action. Peter and Blake ably assisted in defence clearing the ball out on numerous occasions for our wingers, Pierce and Patrick, to push back up into attack. Our goalies, Maddison first half and Sam second, had very little to do and this is probably the reason they each let the ball edge past them once. The consistent pressure and passing allowed Sam and Aaron to both score goals and Ben, who helped us out by backing up for his third game in a row to bag a hat-trick. The only disappointment in this game was when Aaron, in his enthusiasm to score, tackled his own team mate Lachlan when he had a fantastic scoring opportunity, in the goal square with only the goalie to beat. We learn from our mistakes. Great effort guys and keep up the good work. |

This Saturday was always going to be a real challenge for us after not playing due to the wet weather, our star goal keeper away on holidays ( thanks Kyle.....hope he had fun ) and both Daniel Barnes and Simon Woods returning from illness and injury. To add to this we did not have an allotted Referee so I had to step up and do the job. Well what can I say, Kincumber had beaten us earlier in a trial match and had put us under so much pressure the last time we met, they actually out played us. But this time was to be different. The boys came out firing from the whistle with Chris Fox having given them clear instructions and they did not disappoint. They pressured and pressured Kincumber and with 15 seconds to go before half time, we scored and led 1 nil. They were playing the game of their lives and Kincumber were also playing great football. The 2nd half started the same and we basically dominated the play but Kincumber made our new goal keeper Tom Austine work hard and he had to make some great saves and we cannot forget the save Brad made off the line. All in all, I think this was our best game this year and if we play like this next weekend against the leaders East Gosford, they will be troubled. Fantastic effort by all, cannot name anyone in particular although Simon Woods was the man of the match and played his best game. Well done boys, Chris, Me and all your Mum's and Dad's are proud. See you at training and the semi's here we come.....Filed by Paul Johnson |
