MATCH REPORTS - 17-18 June, 2006

TEAM 5/4 YELLOW FILED BY JACK GIUNTA SCORE LOSS 0-6

Todays game was against Kincumber 5-5, and what a great game it was with our first drew on the season. Our Captain today was Amberlee, who also also played goalkeeper in the first half. Amberlee made some great saves, and on one occasion saved the ball right on the line (half of ball not over the line). She also made some great saves coming off her line by putting pressure on opposition. Amberlee also showed some good dribbling and tackling skills in the second half and was unlucky not to have scored on several occasions, WELL DONE Amberlee. Our goal keeper in the second half was Cooper, who also made some great saves. He disposed the ball qickly on occasions catching the opposition off guard with big kicks giving his team mates a head start in dribbling the ball towards the other gaol. On one occasion the opposition was one on one against Cooper who made a great save with his hands. In the first half Cooper showed some great tackling and dribbling skills and was also unlucky not to have scored on several occasions, WELL DONE Cooper.  Isaak scored two goals today. His first goal saw him dribble from half way and finishing his run with a great kick past the goal keeper. His second goal was more of a team effect where Daniel Smith (Our New Player) dribbled the ball from halfway into the six yard box where there was a bit of a scuffle, when the ball finally came loose Isaak kicked the ball into the net off the post. On one other occasion Isaak dribbled the ball from within his half only to have hit the post with his shot. Isaak also showed good tackling skills during the game, WELL DONE Isaak.  Another great performance was shown by Alejandro, who on several occasions saw himself dribbling the ball from halfway towards the gaol only to be tackled before he took his shot. Alejandro also showed some great tackling skills during the game, disposing the opposition on several occasions, WELL DONE Alejandro.  Thomas, Grace and Lachlan also made some great contribution today showing good tackling, dribbling and kicking skills. Thomas tends to stay back a little like a natural defender and when the opposition makes a break he tackles them with confidence. On several occasions we saw him dribble the ball towards the goal only to have been tackled, WELL DONE Thomas.  Lachlan also got involved on several occasions kicking the ball towards the goal, and showed great tackling skills with his team mates when defending his goal. He also did some great throw-in's when the ball was kicked out, WELL DONE Lachlan. Grace also showed great dribbling and tackling skills today, dribbling the ball towards the goal when the opportunity arose. She also defended her goal with great tackling skills, WELL DONE Grace.  As mentioned above we had a new player join the team, his name is Daniel Smith, and on his first outing he played very well. He showed great tackling and dribbling skills throughout the game, and on several occasions came close to scoring. For his first game Daniel shows great potential. Our manager Kim, myself and the other players welcome Daniel to our team.  Taylor was missing today as his mum had a baby, but will join us next week. This was our teams first drew of the season, and the players are showing marked improvement every week. Our first win is within sight now, STAY TUNED. Thanks again to Kim and all the parents.

TEAM 7 YELLOW FILED BY MARTIN SCORE WIN 2-1

WIN! WIN! WIN! WIN! WIN! 2-1

Our first win of the season! A great 1st half  goal to Daniel, and a classy goal to Ethan in the 2nd half, finishing off a perfect cross from Oscar. More importantly, the passing and delivery of ball from the defenders (Caleb, Mathew)  and midfield (Ben), and the way the attackers held their positions gave us at least 7 or 8 more shots at goal. Only some outstanding defence from Terrigal stopped us from winning by plenty. Mathew contested every ball that came his way, and won every time! Ben ran his heart out, and was unlucky not to have a couple of goals from his power shot left boot. Caleb was at his ever- dependable best, clearing anything that looked like trouble. Nicholas in goal was fantastic, launching us back into attack with his HUGE clearing kicks and Goal kicks. Nicholas, Ben, Oscar, Mathew, Daniel, Ethan,Lachlan M, Lachlan R and Caleb - All part of the winning team, so all Man Of The Match!n

TEAM 8 PURPLE FILED BY Paul Hockings SCORE LOSS 2-4

An early start today with an 8 o’clock game after not having played the last two weekends. Our match fitness was down and this was a large field but we managed to catch Wyoming napping and Christopher scored our first goal after a cross from Sam within the first minute of the match. This obviously woke up our opposition and their intensity lifted but our defences held firm with some very solid tackling from Lachlan. The match moved all over the field then in the eighth minute they struck the back of our net with a high shot in the corner to level the scores. Despite very solid defence and great keeping by Peter, Wyoming managed a second goal in the tenth minute to finish the first half ahead. The second half started a little like the first with an early goal by Aaron to again have the scores tied. The game continued as a tight contest with play moving to both ends of the field but despite a fantastic team effort Wyoming managed to score twice more with long range high shots to the corner of the goal that Mark Schwartzer would have had trouble stopping. Christopher was awarded our Man of the Match for his great effort in attack.

TEAM 16C FILED BY Kareem Mohamed SCORE WIN 10-1

1st game for 3 weeks, and we were all eager to get out on that field, the result far better than we hoped for or imagined. 10-1, was the final score line but we had to work hard for it. We were having trouble finding our 1st goal and it wasn’t until a handball in the box gave us an early chance to get one goal up, and Tye blasted the resulting penalty in the top right corner. We kept on pressing forward and a shot from the edge of the box was deflected by the keeper into the feet of Kareem, who calmly knocked the ball into the back of the net with his left foot. We then pressed for the rest of the half to no luck. At halftime we were confident we cold double the score line at least, and 5 minutes in a run on the left by Kareem, found Jarrod unmarked in the middle of the box who hammered in his 2nd goal in 2 games. Then only minutes later a run on the right by Kareem, found his shot deflected for a corner. From the resulting corner Robbie scored. We then kept on pressing forward and Tye on a run was able to score his second by belting the ball into the back of the net. However we were soon caught napping and they hit back with a wayward cross that found its way over Luke’s head. We soon hit back with two goals to make it 7. By then it was decided that we better get Adam a goal, we did get him one, then another, then another all in 10 minutes. The first was a run by Kareem with one defender in front, he then played the ball to Adam in the centre who made a sprint onto the edge of the box to put in his first goal of the season. Only moments later Adam put in his second, which took a deflection of the keeper, to slowly roll into the net being guarded by Kareem along the way. With only minutes left we made it 10 with another run by Kareem on the left, finding its way into the box where Adam completed his hattrick.  The whole team made a great effort and showed that they must be watching way too much World Cup, but they didn’t show they were tired with that 8 goal second half haul. Adam and Kareem had great games in attack, with Adam becoming the first player to score a hattrick this season and Kareem scoring 1 and setting up 5. Robbie, Jarrod and Tye had great games contributing with goals as well as doing their bit in defence. Matt Todd, Kristy and Rebecca had great games in the midfield while Kenny, Nicky, Julian and TJ had solid games in defence and gave their strikers no space to run as well as putting through some great balls for the strikers. That leaves poor Luke who touched the ball a total of 2 times in the game and had no-one to talk to. Good work by him for staying awake, and made a crucial clearance as well as making an important save. Well all in all a great game and I remember saying after Adam’s 1st goal, that it must be a good game when your keeper scores a goal. Well I stand corrected, it must be an excellent game when your keeper scores a hattrick. Good on ya Adam! 3-2-1 went to Adam (Back to keeper now, you are 2nd top scorer), Nicky(solid in defence), and Kareem (Scored 1, set-up 5). Looking forward to the Kanwal showdown next week.

TEAM 14A FILED BY Paul Johnson SCORE WIN 2-1

Congratulations to all the boys. A 2 -1 Win over Killarney Vale was not an easy task. Killarney have managed to draw with some big teams this year and we have all had 3 weeks off. I think I may have forgot this a little with a few of my comments but I mean well. What a great game Kyle Woodward had today from the moment he came on till the last whistle. Well done. This does not mean that everybody else did not play well, you did. A cracker of a goal from young Stevie Wearmouth and Tom was unlucky not to have scored a couple. Congratulations to Sean for a great goal also. Kyle Silver our ever trusty keeper did some fine work today and look out for his PUNCH. This win today cements us at 3rd place still and our biggest match is around the corner next weekend. Thanks to all the Mum's and Dad's for your continued support. If we can just fix up our midfield we can beat anybody. Keep going boys, I know you are all trying and YOU are ALL improving.
