This was a closely fought game with Kanwal putting up a great effort. Amy scored two quick early goals (one another screamer from close to the by-line 20 metres from goal) which gave us some breathing space. However, Kanwal came back and really put up a great challenge. The star players today were Mel, Amy, Charlotte and Starr. Mel was the best on the park having a blinder at the back and she really saved us today. Amy had a brilliant first half and then was goalkeeper in the second she played like a Mariners keeper coming way out of goal and really playing like a professional keeper. Charlotte kept trying all day and was unlucky not to score she went on many long runs but her final shots were just wide of the mark. Poor old Starr! She had 2 disallowed goals, went close to scoring on so many other occasions and then in the final seconds of the match had a clear break-away with only the keeper to beat but the ref called full time. Dont worry Starr the goals will come next match. On another note, it is clear that the refs have instructions to clamp down on foul language and abusive language to the opposition. We all need to be careful about this remember sportsmanship is very important. No matter what the opposition is saying it is important to ignore this and get on with the game to be able to do this shows strength of character and reflects well on our team and the club. 3-2-1 today went to Emily, Sally and Kate. Managers awards went to Mel and Starr. |
