It was the top of the table clash against Ourimbah, who were second to us but only on goal difference. And what a tense game it was.  Competition for the ball was fierce with both teams having chances in the first half, but unable to convert. Some spectacular goalkeeping  by Laura, and tight defence from Rhiannon, Courtney, Jade, Saara, Sheridan and Zoey kept a very determined and powerful Ourimbah attack scoreless and frustrated at the half time whistle.  In the second half, our midfielders started to dominate and dance around the Ourimbah girls, with Alison, Jayne and Maddy showing their skills of dribbling, speed, and sharp passing, with our forwards Tammy, Annie and  Kelsea all coming within whiskers of  scoring from some great crosses. It was Kate however that finished off a great run from the left midfield, beating 3 players that put one in the net to be 1-0 up.  Ourimbah came back immediately with a spectacular shot which was fended and then saved right on the line by Taylah at Goals. This was so close that the ref had to run back to look where she was standing, only to disallow it.  This was a quality game between two motivated sides, which thrilled spectators, and will no doubt produce a fiery contest when we meet Ourimbah again in the next round.
